WAYS TO GO GREEN
Turns out, as writer Rebecca Solnit points out, that Big Oil coined the term "carbon footprint" to shift the blame for the climate crisis away from industry and toward individuals. So, let's do what we can, such as conserving energy, using renewable energy when we can, reducing food waste, and avoiding single-use plastic. But keep in mind that "being green" as individuals won't bring about the change we need. We need to work together to bring far greater changes. As Solnit says, "The revolution won’t happen by people staying home and being good. . . . Private individual actions don’t increase at a rate sufficient to affect the problem in a timely fashion; collective action seeking changes in policy and law can."
